In this Act unless the subject or context requires otherwise:
(a) “Lumbini development area” means Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha and Tilaurakot (ancient Kapilavastu), Gotihwa, Niglihwa, Sagarhava, Sisniakot, Arorakot, Kudan (Kapilvastu), Devdah (Rupandehi) Ramgram (which are directly or indirectly associated with the life of Lord Buddha). Navalparasi) and other areas designated by the Government of Nepal by publishing notices in the Nepal Gazette.

However, when the areas are designated in this way, only those areas that are directly or indirectly related to the life of Lord Buddha can be designated.
(b) "Fund" means the Lumbini Development Fund established as per section 3.
(c) "custodian" means the custodian of the Fund.
(d) "Council" means the Lumbini Development Council established under section 8.
(e) "Chairman" means the Chairman of the Council.
(f) "Vice-Chairman" means the Vice-Chairman of the Council.
(g) "Treasurer" means the Treasurer of the Council.
(h) "Member-Secretary" shall mean the Member-Secretary of the Council (i) "Member" means a member of the Council and the term also refers to the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and Member-Secretary of the Council.
(j) "Committee" means Section 11 a. It should be considered as the executive committee constituted as follows (k) "Plan Implementation Committee" means the Plan Implementation Committee constituted as per section 12.
(l) "Scheme" means the Lumbini Development Scheme.
(d) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the regulations made under this Act.
